The Piney Woods Hotel stood next to a feed store in this row of nine stores fronting on Mobile Landing (now Loyola Avenue). The businesses were conveniently located facing the southern end of the New Basin Canal, the major shipping artery in the new American sector. Other boundary streets are Julia, Triton Walk (now Howard), and Philippa (now S. Rampart). The site is near the present-day Union Station.
