| Plan Book drawings are primarily a 19th century phenomenon, but the collection contains a scattering of early 20th century plans, too. This 1911 plan shows the Spanish Fort resort area, which attracted crowds to its amusements for an entire century, from the 1820s until the 1920s. Among the attractions were a hotel, a theater, a casino, a beer garden, an amusement park, and a depot served by the New Orleans, Spanish Fort & Lake Railroad Company. The Spanish Fort era closed in the 1920s, when land reclamation projects pushed the shore of Lake Pontchartrain thousands of feet away. | ||
